THEY’RE some of Hobart’s most enigmatic attractions, but few things will be kept secret when dozens of the city’s iconic buildings and sites open to the public.
Open House Hobart, an annual event running on Saturday and Sunday, unlocks more than 70 buildings for onlookers to explore.
Included in the list of well-known Hobart sites are Government House, Hobart’s Supreme Court and Hobart’s Beaumaris Zoo.
Her Excellency Professor the Honourable Kate Warner AC, Governor of Tasmania, will host Government House Open Day on Sunday from 10am to 3pm with partner Richard Warner.
Gardener of five years at Government House, Bettina Elischer, said a lot of work went in to getting the gardens up to scratch for guests on the annual visitor day.
“We prepare really early for Open Day so that we have lots of flowers blooming for this time of year,” she said.
“It’s really important the flowers are looking their best for Open Day, so we try to plant plenty of spring species. We’re hoping for a bright sunny day for the Open Day.”
